Hi beauties,
You probably did a double take when you read that title. Trust me, I get it. At the time I posted this viral Tiktok video, the topic also surprised a number of people! So, I've decided to re-share here the tips from that post's caption.
Although double or triple cleansing the body follows the same concept that applies to our faces, I've found that only a small number of people actually practice this. It's so easy to forget that the face is an extension of the body, or better yet, is part of the body. The skin extends from the face to the feet, and while different areas on our body vary in pH, a lot of what apply to the face also apply to the body. The idea behind a triple cleanse is to have an oil step that dissolves and removes a lot of oil-soluble material (examples are sunscreen, makeup, other grime on the skin picked up throughout the day), an exfoliating step to break down and remove dead skin cells and bacteria (whether physical through our sponge or exfoliating glove and/or body wash with exfoliating acids), and what I call a pleasure step (something that smells good and keeps your skin soft and supple). With my approach, only a few days a week will be a 3-step or triple cleanse day. Other days are double cleanses. Following this will absolutely change your body care game and, fun fact, may even help you tackle body odor!
Exfoliate (2-3x a week during the triple cleanse days). You can use an exfoliating mitt plus a body wash of choice or you can pick an actual body exfoliating product, many of which will include exfoliating acids. This will bring dirt and oil to the forefront and even help with in-grown hair. Some personal faves are Aesop Geranium Leaf Body scrub and Zitsticka Fizz Fountain!
Oil cleanse (This is a daily). I approach this loosely because it’s such a hard one! I don’t know too many body cleansers that are rich in fatty acids and nourishing oils. I like the Bioderma Atoderm Body Cleansing Oil but another one people swear by is the Naturium Glow Getter Multi Oil Body Wash! Using this will effectively remove dirt, sweat, and excess oil from the skin's surface while also balancing the oils needed for supple and healthy skin. This may not be the case for you but if you do have an extra oil cleanse or cleansing balm lying around, it will work just fine. I ended up using my Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Oil for my underarms and it worked excellently for me.
Pleasure cleanse (another daily). This step is perfect for a regular body wash. Gentle cleansers like hydrating and milky cleansers are a great option here or something soothing with colloidal oats. I suggest getting one that smells good! I’m currently loving the Everist waterless body wash concentrate (10% off with code minimalbelle) or Aveeno Moisturizing Yogurt Body Wash. Dove has so many options that are affordable and accessible, too! Plus I have been using their new pre-cleanse shower butter and I am in love! This will help hydrate the skin and soothe any irritation. Plus, if you pick something that smells great you have a great base for your perfumes later on.
